I am glad you found positiveness from this blog. Hope you read more of my blogs on dissociation. Truly there is a productive and positive side of dissociation. Dissociation is the skill of intense focus. I am thankful for the skill, and have NO idea how I would have gotten through a lot without it. However, it does cause many obstacles. I always wondered if I could use it in my favor. Thank you for this post. It makes me feel hopeful that I can accomplish more than being a separated mess trying to survive in a fake, stupid world (fake in both ways). I feel I need to do something about this NOW, not years from now when someone else decides I'm suddenly well enough to do so. And I really don't know any other way but this separation. If we change our mindset from negative to positive a lot of PTSD symptoms can be useful and adaptive for our life once out of abuse or trauma.

Hope you read more of my blogs on dissociation.

Thanks again, Coach BillWilliam Tollefson Viewshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07857735501459829201noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2268632983340518777.post-70459029922538852362017-07-15T13:42:11.913-07:002017-07-15T13:42:11.913-07:00Very interesting read. The way I disassociated from my years of trauma (and therefore I believe I survived) was through my belief that if my ex husband were well, he would not be hurting me. I believed wholeheartedly in his innate goodness. It was an unending exercise in compassion and forgiveness and because of that practice, I developed profound empathy.

I've always been grateful for how my brain handled it all and I got something that is very precious... I got to know myself when stripped of help from anyone.

I have PTSD - AND I am so thankful for the power to disassociate.
